Rustonic™ And Rustcoat™
Applied Over Zinc-Primer
Observations & Test Results Test Date Tested By

One coat of zinc-based primer was applied at the recommended application rate of 500 ft²/gallon, and allowed to cure for 24 hours.

The first coat of Rustonic™ and Rustcoat™ applied over the zinc-based primer at an application rate of 2.5 gallons/100ft²., and allowed to cure for 24 hours.

The second and final coat of Rustonic™ was applied on a first coat of Rustonic™ and Rustcoat™ respectively, at an application rate of 2.5 gallons/100 ft².

A total of eight panels were prepared, four each of Rustonic™ and four each of Rustcoat™.

Both Rustonic™ and Rustcoat™ readily applied over a steel panel coated with a zinc-based primer. Initial and cured adhesions were assessed as excellent. September 22, 2000 PRI Asphalt Technologies, Inc

Conclusion of the Litton Ship Systems laboratory tests:

Floatcoat applied on blasted steel, does not prevent rust-formation. Rustonic™ applied on blasted or rusted steel, satisfactorily prevents rust-formation. Rustonic™ applied over Floatcoat on blasted or rusted steel, satisfactorily prevents rust-formation.

Litton Ship Systems has authorized the use of Rustonic™ for the fill-and-drain system of box girders, interior rudders, skegs, bilge keels and other void areas of Farrell ships for the US Navy. Rustonic™ has been tested and found to be superior in performance to military spec. no. C-13, HPC.

All tests conducted by Litton Ship Systems for Rustonic™ apply to both Rustonic™-Classic and Rustonic™-Eco.
